Washington State Patrol Crime Lab Sprinklers Malfunction

Rain Outside and Inside the State Crime Lab

Its been a cold spring in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and it got even colder inside the Washington State Patrol Crime lab last Monday.  On June 13, 2011, the sprinkler system malfunctioned and dumped two inches of water on the lab, reports the Seattle Times and KOMO.

No surprise, Jim Tarver, the WSP spokesman says everything is under control.  That statement comes prior to inspection of the evidence stored at the lab.  Apparently, they know the status of the evidence prior to the evidence being inspected.   How will we know what happened inside the lab?  Will any suspicion of damage or degradation be disclosed to all parties or just the prosecutor?  Will the Lab even bother to ask any of these questions?  I hate to sound so cynical but the answer is likely, no.
